Not so very long ago, downtown Middletown,
the old-timers will tell you, was as vibrant and bustling as a little piece of Manhattan. The sidewalks
were crowded and parking hard to come by, and names such as Greens and Kassels
and Tompkins were on its impressive storefronts. Markets, pharmacies, bars and
bakeries lined the streets.
